Magnificent apartment in Amsterdam South.
A fully furnished three-bedroom flat of 140 m2 on the ground floor of an apartment building from 1929 is a national monument built in the so-called “Amsterdam Style Architecture” and is a beautiful example.
The style is classical but still with all the modern updates for a comfortable stay. The house is accessed by an imposing communal hall with marble paneling in which there is a separate front door to the apartment itself. The house was totally renovated in 2014. New parquet floors, plumbing, central heating system and electricity were installed. Upon entrance to the apartment, there is a grand monumental hall with a built-in wardrobe for coats, giving access to all other spaces. Double wooden doors with paneling give access to a living area with comfortable sofas, a television and projector screen built into the ceiling.
Adjoining the living area there is a separate dining room with a table that seats eight. In another separate, half-open part of the living area, you’ll find a fully equipped kitchen. The kitchen was refurbished in 2022 with all modern facilities like three ovens: a normal oven/ a microwave combination and a steam oven. There are three counters, two being made of Belgian hard stone and one part being of stainless steel with a five burner (gas)stove. There is a Quooker for instant hot or boiling water, a fridge, a separate large freezer and a dishwasher. Next to the kitchen, there is an area with a washing machine, dryer and separate airing cupboard.
There are built-in bookshelves throughout the house. The house contains three bedrooms (two with built-in cupboards). One master bedroom facing the patio and two children’s bedrooms (one adjoining the patio as well and one on the façade garden side of the house). The master bedroom has a large double bed (size 210 cm x 160 cm) and built-in cupboards for clothes and books as well as access to the patio by two doors. One of the children’s bedrooms looks out onto the patio – also with double doors leading to this small but lovely outdoor space and has both built-in and stand-alone wardrobes. There is double bunkbed of two beds of 165 cm x 80 cm and a comfortable extra foldable bed of 200 cm x 80 cm if wanted. The bedroom looking out onto the façade garden has a bed of 200 cm x 80 cm and both an antique desk and cupboard to store books and clothes.
The apartment has two bathrooms and a separate loo. The main bathroom can be entered by both the master bedroom as well as by the hallway. It has a huge bath, a loo, a shower, and two sinks. The smaller bathroom can be entered by the hallway and has a shower and sink. Then there is another separate loo in the house. The house has a nice patio at the back where you can sit outside for a drink or dinner. There is also the possibility to sit outside on benches in the long (8m x 17 m) south-facing façade garden at the front of the house.
A very calm oasis just around the corner of Beethovenstraat and Cornelis Schuytstraat (two nice shopping streets in town). Here nice boutiques as well as practical grocery stores, a pharmacy, restaurants and coffee bars can be found. The National Concert Hall, Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, Vondelpark and Beatrixpark, (international) schools and the Amsterdam business district (Zuid-as) are all very close by and in walking distance. The international train station of Amsterdam (Amsterdam-South) is a seven-minute walk and Schiphol airport a 15-minute drive.
